With a clamshell design the Nokia 6600 Fold is certainly an attractive phone. Complete with an invisible outer layer that responds to a tap by lighting up and an electromagnetic mechanism that opens the clamshell automatically the Nokia 6600 is a mobile phone that is just a little bit different.
Standard features include 3G calling, FM radio, 2 MP camera, stereo music player, Bluetooth and the ability to add memory cards of upto 4Gbytes. The Nokia 6600 Fold has a web browser, as well as the Nokia Mini Map browser with the Nokia Maps application. However, it doesn't have GPS support.

A good choice of flip phone

I've always liked flip phones because normally they take up less space and have bigger buttons for texting. Modern phone makers don't seem to realise that texting is one of the most common ways to communicate and when you're holding a phone in your hand, you are using your thumb to text with (the largest of all your fingers) so making the buttons smaller is not such a great idea! However, at least in the flip phones the buttons are still relatively large, hence the reason I'll always have one. The 6600 has big buttons and great look, the hidden outer screen is great and the fact that you tap it to show the display is good for showing off! I really like this phone, however, my only gripe is the lack of feel on the keypad. Nokia have kept it sleek and smooth inside which is a problem for locating the keys by feel, especially the navigation button. It's easy to try navigate and press the centre button by mistake. Once you get used to the feel of it you should be fine but compared to my first flip phone, this means the process is a little slower as you're trying to be precise. As for everything else, it does what it says on the tin. It's not as fancy as some of the bigger rivals but if you want a nice looking phone with normal sized buttons for texting, then this is your guy.
A great new phone

Whilst some will say that this phone is lacking in features I do not agree. If you want to use a phone for making calls, taking the occasional photo and also want it to look smart and modern then this is a great phone.
OK if your provider gives it to you for free. I wouldn't pay for one.

Quite a neat design, and the way info can be displayed through the outer case is pretty cool.
Only really two main gripes - one: the battery life is pretty feeble - charge it up and only lasts about a day and a half (unless you don't make any calls on it, which sort of defeats the purpose!), and two: the outer case scratches far too easily, especially when the phone so easily lends itself to being slipped into your pocket. I would also comment about the display being far too small for displaying web pages, but maybe thats just me being an old git with bad eyesight!
So overall, nice enough if your mobile provider gives you one as a FOC upgrade (which mine did) but I certainly wouldn't bother to buy one.

If you like your music then the Nokia 6600 Fold is an ideal handset, with a stereo digital music player you can play a wide variety of file formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+, it also has a stereo FM radio built in. One negative is the omission of a 3.5mm headphone jack, this means you won't be able to plug in your own headphones, although the 2.5mm headphone jack will take Nokia headphones, and a Nokia Stereo Headset WH-501 is bundled in the product package for any new phone. For added convenience, you can use a wireless Bluetooth stereo headset.
The integrated memory of 15 Mbytes is fairly punny, so it's a good job you can fit roughly 100 to 150 music tracks on the 512 MByte microSD memory card that comes included. If you really like your music then you can expand the storage to a 4GB card, which will be enough for roughly 1,000 songs plus.
