If you're looking for a decent camera phone at a reasonable price you won't go far wrong with the Sony Ericsson K770i. Basically a slimmer version of the popular K800i it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom and autofocus. Where it differs, to its detriment, is with the flash. While the K800i had a xenon flash the K770i has an LED flash.
However, equipped with a music player, video calling, expandable memory, Bluetooth and a high quality TFT LCD screen means it's still an excellent choice for those wanting a lightweight and slim phone.
Where the K770i scores over the K800i is by the replacement of the annoying joystick with a 5 way navigation key as well as it being slimmer and lighter. Overall, a great little phone with a quality camera.
A premium phone with premium features including a music player, stereo speakers, 802.11g Wi-Fi and a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optics (as used by NASA).
The first thing you notice with the Nokia N95 is that it's not a small phone; having said that it is relatively light, weighing in at 120 grams. The size helps support a 2.6 inch QVGA screen sporting a 240 x 320 resolution with 16 million colours, displaying sharp text and bright images.
A great feature of the Nokia N95 is the dual slider design, slide the cover one way for phone functions, slide the other way for multimedia functions, all possible with a simple flick. You can browse through the phones animated menus using the 5 way navigation pad as well as using several of the surrounding buttons.
If you want a phone that does it all, then the Nokia N95 is a great buy, the music player is as good as an iPod, it has a large usable screen (with TV out) and the Symbian Operating System allows the addition of a plethora of new functions. The only downside I could find with the phone was the short battery life, but I suppose that's the price you pay for so many features.
The W880i is a 3G Walkman phone with enough memory for about 250 music tracks. It also has 3G video calling along with a 2 megapixel camera. The body of the phone is slim, measuring just 9.4mm in thickness.
As the music player is the central feature of the Sony Ericsson W880i, you'd expect the quality to be first class, and it is. Accessible by a single click you have all the expected controls at your finger tips, including play, fast forward, rewind, shuffle tracks, equalise and the ability to create playlists.
For added depth of sound the phone has Sony's MegaBass feature included, which helps when using the phones inbuilt loudspeaker, although if you want the best sound you should use a pair of quality headphones. The phone is Bluetooth capable so you can also use Bluetooth stereo headphones.
The only downside to the phone that I could see is the fact that there isn't a radio built into the phone.
With a touch sensitive screen the Nokia 5800 Xpress music mobile phone is the latest in the Xpress Music collection. Equipped with 8GB of memory there's enough space to hold thousands of songs and with the option to add another 8GB of memory, there's space to add thousands more.
Another welcome feature is the full Qwerty keyboard which should make using the phone less frustrating for those who find conventional mobile phone keyboards cumbersome.
Internet access is fast using Wi-Fi or HSDPA and pleasurable with the large 3,2“, bright nHD (640 x 360 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio) colour display.
Navigation is another feature the Nokia 5800 caters for with its full A-GPS support along with access to the Nokia Maps database.
The phone has several input methods, these are plectrum, stylus and finger touch to access an alphanumeric keypad, full and mini qwerty keyboard as well as handwriting recognition.
The 5800 also sports a 3.2 megapixel camera that has dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics.
The Samsung D500 mobile phone, although several years old, still packs enough technology to satisfy most users. Combining a TFT screen, 1.3 megapixel camera and wireless connectivity the phone was originally aimed at high end users.
Although the D500 is no longer available from Samsung, as the auctions show below there is still plenty of handsets around for you to buy.
With a sliding front the phone has a compact design, but still has a good sized screen and will easily fit in your pocket. Many of the D500 features are available on the front panel, but a gentle flick will make the slide mechanism close and open automatically, allowing access to the keypad underneath.
At 1.9 inches and with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels the D500 screen is compact yet very usable. With 262 k colours and LCD TFT technology you'll find the display clear and bright, even when viewed in direct sunlight.
The D500 has a 1.3 megapixel camera which has a flash for taking pictures in low-light along with a 7x digital zoom. There is also a 4x digital zoom camcorder for making videos.
For those looking for audio functionality there is an MP3 player. Moreover the D500 can use stored MP3 clips (which offer the best possible sound quality) as ringtones, MP3 ringtones offer a far superior sound compared to the polyphonic MIDI ringtones that are already on the phone.
With 80 Mbytes of memory the D500 has adequate storage for a selection of videos and MP3 tracks, allowing 60 minutes of video or up to 20 MP3 tracks.
Wireless connectivity is taken care of with the inclusion of Bluetooth technology, enabling data to be transferred between handsets and for connecting to a wireless ear piece or a car kit. The Samsung D500 also has a USB port to allow you to connect to your computer.
